Gov Okpebholo Nominates Enugu-Born Businessman Martin Oli as Edo Commissioner-Designate



The Edo State Government has announced the nomination of Mr. Martin Anayochukwu Oli as a Commissioner-Designate in the state’s executive council. The appointment was approved by Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo on Tuesday, June 24, 2026.


According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the nomination reflects the administration’s resolve to broaden participation in governance. Oli’s name will be transmitted to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.


Mr. Oli hails from Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State. Government officials described him as an accomplished businessman and politician with a track record in community and grassroots development.


The statement highlighted Oli’s contributions to social and economic progress at the community level. It noted that his work has focused on initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and fostering development among diverse populations.


In the private sector, Oli is recognized for strong entrepreneurial and leadership credentials. Through his business ventures and political engagements, he has championed development-oriented projects over the years.


He is also known as a prominent Igbo community leader in Edo State and an advocate for sustainable growth. The government said his engagements have earned him a reputation as a unifying figure committed to inclusive progress.


Announcing the nomination, the government said it underscores Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to inclusiveness, unity, and harnessing expertise for the development of Edo State. The Assembly is expected to consider Oli’s nomination in the coming days.
