Edo Govt Clarifies N24.8B Flyover Budget: Funds Cover 3 Projects, Not Ramat Park Alone

The Edo State Government has moved to correct what it described as “deliberate misinformation” circulating on social media about its 2026 budgetary provision for flyover projects in Benin City. The clarification follows days of online debate over a N24.8 billion allocation tied to road infrastructure.
According to the government, the N24.8 billion is not earmarked for a single flyover at Ramat Park as some posts suggested. Instead, the amount was budgeted for the construction of three major flyovers and their associated road networks across the state capital.
The projects covered under the allocation are located at Ramat Park, Aduwawa, and Dawson Junction. Officials said the three locations form a critical part of the administration’s infrastructure and capital expenditure plan for 2026 aimed at easing traffic congestion in Benin City.
The allocation is captured under the budget caption of the Ministry of Roads and Bridges. The government stressed that the breakdown was “well explained and allocated” within that ministry’s section of the 2026 budget document presented to the public.
In a statement signed by Hon. Haruna Braimoh, Special Adviser on Public Affairs, the government emphasized that “there is nowhere in the 2026 Budget that the Edo state government plans to spend the sum of N24.8B on the Ramat Park flyover project alone.”
The misinformation, the statement said, generated significant buzz on social media in recent days. Officials noted that the viral posts misrepresented the budget figures and created unnecessary public anxiety about the cost of one project.
Braimoh urged residents of Edo State to disregard the claims. He said the Governor Okpebholo-led administration remains committed to transparency and accountability in the management of public funds and project delivery.
The government reaffirmed its focus on “solid infrastructural delivery across the state.” It added that updates on the flyover projects and other capital works will continue to be communicated to the public through official channels as work progresses.
