Ogheghe Residents Commend Okpebholo Over Ongoing Road Construction

By Ojo Evans

Residents, traders and pedestrians in Ogheghe community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, have commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for the ongoing road construction project in the area. They described the project as a long-awaited intervention that is already transforming lives and businesses.

The commendation followed an unscheduled visit by the governor to the community on Wednesday, May 20, to assess the extent of work done. Residents told journalists during the visit that the pace and quality of work had brought renewed hope after years of hardship caused by the poor state of the road.

According to those who spoke, the road was previously dusty and waterlogged, making movement difficult for motorists, traders and school children, especially during the rainy season. Trader Victor Merit said the construction had started attracting more customers to the market, while resident Monday Orugbe described the governor as a blessing to Edo State for addressing the long-standing problem.

Pedestrians and school children also welcomed the project, saying it would improve safety and reduce accidents in the area. The state government said the construction is part of efforts to rehabilitate critical roads and enhance socio-economic activities across communities in Edo State.

The statement was signed by Dr. Ebojele Akhere Patrick PhD, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo.
