2027: GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN REMAINS NIGERIA'S BEST HOPE FOR UNITY, STABILITY AND DEMOCRATIC RESTORATION - Comr. Kasim Oneshioagbe Afegbua
Nigeria is presently passing through one of the most difficult moments in her democratic history. Across the country, millions of Nigerians are battling economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, rising inflation and an increasing cost of living. The suffering in the land has continued to raise serious concerns about the future of the nation.
As discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections continue, one name that keeps standing out among many Nigerians is H.E Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
According to Comr. Oneshioagbe Afegbua, if the opposition truly wants to rescue Nigeria from the current challenges under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, then personal ambition and political ego must be sacrificed for national interest.
He stated that leaders like Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and other opposition stakeholders should consider forming a strong coalition around Goodluck Jonathan for the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria.
Comr. Afegbua described Jonathan as one of the few Nigerian leaders with broad national acceptance across different regions, religions and political interests. According to him, Jonathan governed with humility, calmness and democratic maturity. These are the qualities Nigeria urgently needs at this critical time.
He further noted that Jonathan remains one of Africa’s strongest democratic examples after peacefully conceding defeat in 2015, placing the peace and stability of Nigeria above personal ambition and political power.
“Jonathan showed Nigerians and the international community that leadership is not only about power but about character, sacrifice and love for one’s country,” Afegbua said.
He also pointed out that under Jonathan’s administration, Nigerians experienced relative economic stability, better living conditions, stronger investor confidence and a more united national atmosphere compared to the current realities facing the country today.
According to Afegbua, the opposition must avoid division ahead of 2027 because a fragmented opposition will only weaken the chances of meaningful change.
“Nigeria is bigger than every individual ambition. The hardship in the land is too much. Insecurity is increasing, poverty is rising and millions of Nigerians are losing hope daily. This is the time for patriotic sacrifice and national unity,” he said.
According to him, “2027 should not just be another election. It should be a mission to rebuild Nigeria, restore economic stability, strengthen democracy and reunite the country.”
He maintained that among all available options, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan remains one of the most credible, experienced, peaceful and nationally acceptable leaders capable of leading that process successfully.
“This is not the time for selfish politics or personal interest. Nigeria needs healing, stability, economic recovery and leadership that can unite the people. Goodluck Jonathan remains one of the most credible, experienced and nationally accepted figures capable of leading that process,” Comr. Afegbua added.
He concluded by urging patriotic Nigerians, youth groups and opposition leaders to put the country first and work together towards building a more peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria in 2027.
