GOV OKPEBHOLO DECLARES WAR ON CRIMINALS IN EDO

Benin City, Edo State – February 4, 2025 – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has vowed to intensify the fight against crime in the state, pledging full cooperation with all security agencies. The governor made the declaration during a meeting with the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpen Otimenyin.

Governor Okpebholo expressed strong confidence in the new CP, revealing a personal connection dating back to 1994 in Jos. He stated that he had promised her the position of Commissioner of Police in Edo State should he become governor. "She is a woman with the heart of a man," he said, adding, "We will fight crimes in our State. Our business is to fight crimes and no better person to fight crimes than CP Betty Enekpen Isokpen."

Commissioner Otimenyin thanked the governor for the recently provided security vehicles and pledged the police force's full commitment to eradicating crime. "The reason for my visit is to inform Your Excellency that I have resumed and am ready to work and ensure the State is crime-free," she stated. The new vehicles, she emphasized, will greatly assist police operations.

The meeting signals a strong collaborative effort between the Edo State government and the police to improve security. Governor Okpebholo's assertive stance and the CP's commitment suggest a proactive approach to tackling crime in the state.
