Breaking News: President Bola Tinubu Swears In New Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries
In a significant move towards enhancing governance, President Bola Tinubu on Monday led the swearing-in ceremony for newly appointed members of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the Federal Character Commission (FCC), and the National Population Commission (NPC) at the State House.
The ceremony, held at the Council Chamber of the State House, saw the President administer the oaths of office to twenty-one RMAFC commissioners, alongside one commissioner each for the FCC and NPC, just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Additionally, President Tinubu officially swore in eight former directors from the Federal Civil Service as Permanent Secretaries. These individuals were selected through a rigorous process, which included written and oral examinations as well as an ICT competency test.
Among those appointed as Permanent Secretaries is Dr. Onwusoro Ihemelandu from Abia State, an esteemed optometrist and World Bank-certified procurement expert. Dr. Ihemelandu, who joined the Federal Civil Service in 1997, has held various directorial roles and was instrumental in procurement operations across several ministries.
Also recognized during the event was Philip Ebiogeh Ndiomu from Bayelsa State, who brings invaluable experience as a Director of Agriculture at the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, where he led initiatives benefitting over 5,500 individuals.
Healthcare administration was represented with Dr. Anuma Nlia, a medical doctor from Ebonyi State, who has made notable contributions to Nigeria’s tertiary healthcare sector, and Chinasa Nnam Ogbodo, an accountant from Enugu State, who rose through the ranks to become Director of Finance and Accounts.
Other appointees included Dr. Kalba Danjuma Usman, a medical doctor and Urology specialist from Gombe State, and Dr. Salihu Aminu Usman from Kebbi State, who has an extensive background in management. Additionally, Patience Nwakuso Oyekunle and Engr. Nadungu Gagare showcased the diverse expertise brought to the Permanent Secretary roles, specializing in biochemistry and agricultural engineering, respectively.
The newly appointed RMAFC commissioners represent various states across Nigeria, joining the ranks of those charged with managing and overseeing fiscal responsibilities crucial to national development. Among them are Nkechi Oti Linda from Abia State and a host of others from regions including Akwa Ibom, Anambra, and Lagos.
Kayode Oladele was appointed as the FCC's Federal Commissioner, while Pastor (Mrs) Iyantan Olukemi Victoria was sworn in as the NPC's Federal Commissioner.
This event marks a pivotal moment in President Tinubu's administration, as he continues to appoint professionals with proven expertise to key positions, aiming to drive progress and development across Nigeria.
