De Parrot Media: Police Net Cop Killer, Bust Child Trafficking Ring in Nationwide Crackdown
Abuja, Nigeria – January 6, 2025 – In a major victory for law enforcement, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of a notorious cop killer and the dismantling of a large-scale child trafficking syndicate, culminating in the recovery of numerous illicit weapons. These operations, hailed as significant successes in the ongoing fight against crime, underscore the force’s commitment to ensuring national security.
According to a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, operatives of the Force Intelligence and Response Team (FID-IRT) apprehended Ogaga Dickson, 35, on November 1st, 2024. Dickson is a key member of an armed robbery gang responsible for the October 14th, 2024 murder of CSP Hassan Jega, the DPO of Agbarho Division in Delta State. Jega was killed during a fierce gun battle following a foiled robbery attempt. Four other gang members were neutralized during a raid on their hideout. The police seized one AK-47 rifle, one English pistol, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and six luxury vehicles from Dickson.
Separately, on December 2nd, 2024, police apprehended a child trafficking ring operating under the guise of religious authority. Pastor Dayo Bernard, leader of the "End Time Army Ministry" in Bukuru, Plateau State, was arrested along with Rita Agboeze, Victoria Ugwu, Nanman Puntel, and Peter Ukwuani. The operation resulted in the rescue of five children, aged 2-4, who had been abducted from various homes in Jos. Bernard confessed to abducting and selling a total of 13 children, all of whom have been recovered and reunited with their families with the assistance of the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
In a further blow to criminal elements, FID-IRT operatives recovered 14 AK-47 rifles in a separate operation, fulfilling Inspector General of Police directives to seize all illegal firearms.
ACP Adejobi emphasized that these operations highlight the Nigeria Police Force's unwavering dedication to combating crime and enhancing national security through proactive, intelligence-driven strategies. The force continues its efforts to disrupt criminal networks and reduce violent crime across the nation.
