Oluwaseun People Foundation Feeds 17,000 in Osun, Mourns Stampede Victims.
Osogbo, Osun State– The Oluwaseun People Foundation, spearheaded by philanthropist Pastor Oluwaseun Basil Alabi, continued its annual tradition of providing vital support to vulnerable communities in Osun State. Over 17,000 individuals, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, and widows, in Iwo, Ede, Irewole, and Isokan Local Government Areas received food distributions during the New Year celebrations.
The initiative, which saw the distribution of rice, garri, noodles, and other essential items, aims to alleviate the impact of Nigeria's current economic hardship on those in most need. Speaking at a distribution center in Ikoyi, Deputy Coordinator Comrade Salensile Muideen highlighted the Foundation's ongoing commitment, stating, "Our people are very happy to receive us. It’s challenging to give during these tough economic times in Nigeria."
The Foundation also extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of victims of stampedes that occurred at palliative distribution events in Ibadan, Abuja, and Anambra. In a calculated effort to prevent similar tragedies, the Secretary of the Foundation, Gboyega Bakare, explained that beneficiaries were organized into clusters and handled in batches to maintain order and safety during this year's distribution. "We attended to beneficiaries in batches, gave them tags, and ushered them in. This method ensured no one was pushed or made to suffer," Bakare emphasized.
Beneficiaries, interviewed by Daily Mail, expressed gratitude for the support and offered prayers for Pastor Alabi's continued philanthropic endeavors. The Foundation plans to continue these distributions across additional areas in Osun, demonstrating a deep commitment to the well-being of the less fortunate.
