Oyebanji Wins Polling Unit With Wide Margin as Collation Begins Across Ekiti

By Ojo Evans

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has won his polling unit in the ongoing election. According to results from the unit, the governor polled 326 votes, securing a decisive lead over his closest challenger.

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate, Dare Bejide, trailed with 2 votes. The Action Democratic Party, ADP, and the African Action Congress, AAC, each recorded 1 vote at the governor’s polling unit, while 3 ballots were declared void.

The result from the governor’s unit reflects a strong showing for the APC in his immediate voting area. Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election, cast his vote earlier in the day alongside other voters in his community.

Voting has now concluded at the polling unit and across several other locations in the state. Electoral officials are expected to move materials to the collation centers as the next phase of the process begins.

As of the time of this report, collation of results is ongoing across Ekiti State. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is expected to announce official tallies from the various local government areas in the coming hours.
