Okpebholo Predicts 2.5 Million Votes for Tinubu in Edo, Cites High Turnout at APC Primary

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has said the state is poised to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, following a large turnout at the All Progressives Congress presidential primary in his home ward.
Okpebholo made the statement on Saturday after voting in the primary held at Udomi Primary School, Ward 2, Udomi in Esan Central Local Government Area. Party members in the ward voted under the Option A4 system approved by the APC National Working Committee.
The governor described the turnout and peaceful conduct of the exercise as evidence of growing support for Tinubu and the APC across the state. “Today’s primary was peaceful, and you could see the happiness on the faces of our people as they came out in large numbers to vote for Mr. President,” he said.
“They voted overwhelmingly for him, and this is exactly what is happening across Edo State. It is a clear pointer to what the 2027 general election will look like in the state,” Okpebholo added.
He expressed confidence that Edo would play a key role in Tinubu’s re-election bid, insisting that the APC remains firmly rooted in the state. “We are ready for the 2027 general election, and we are ready to deliver Edo State to President Tinubu,” he stated. “Two point five million votes are possible. Some people may doubt it, but it is achievable and already settled in Edo State.”
According to Okpebholo, the enthusiasm shown by party members reflected increasing public confidence in both the state government and the Tinubu administration. He linked the support to ongoing projects in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and rural development.
The Returning Officer for Ward 2, Ehimegbe Favour, confirmed that the exercise followed APC guidelines. He said party members were verified with membership cards before being counted under the Option A4 system, and that President Tinubu secured 360 votes in the ward. Favour noted that the open voting and counting process ensured transparency and credibility.
