ONLY PDP CAN RECLAIM NIGERIA — COMR. ONESHIOAGBE K. AFEGBUA WARNS DEFECTORS, CALLS FOR UNITY

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has remained a central pillar in Nigeria’s democratic evolution — a party that has survived storms, upheld institutional stability and delivered governance with a sense of national responsibility. Despite recent internal tensions and the wave of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP still stands as the only credible opposition with the structure, spread and capacity to reclaim and reposition Nigeria to global respect.

From 1999 to 2015, PDP-led administrations laid foundations in democratic consolidation, civil liberties, institutional reforms and macro-economic stability. These achievements still recalled with nostalgia by Nigerians, validate the party’s competence and national acceptability. With presence and loyalty across all geo-political zones, the PDP remains the only party that has consistently managed diversity without weaponizing it.

Yet, the current internal friction has raised concerns. We acknowledge the cracks, but we reject the notion that conflict is destiny. We caution our leaders at all levels to sheath their swords and resist external influences bent on destroying the party and derailing the opposition space. Crisis cannot be outsourced to destroy what was built in sacrifice.

Those exiting to the APC should remember: the 2027 general elections will be an eye-opener. Many will return when reality sets in — because they understand the spirit of unity, institutional depth and collective strength that distinguishes the PDP from all others.

To the National Working Committee and the elders of the party, we urge a return to the ethos exemplified by disciplined statesmen such as the late Chief Tony Anenih and other icons who defended the party before self. We call on the National Chairman, Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum and his team to place reconciliation, party discipline and collective vision above all else.

Nigeria is at an inflection point. While we acknowledge President Tinubu’s attempts to address insecurity, the country’s governance and economic direction remain deeply troubling. The suffering of ordinary citizens, the collapse of federal road networks, and unfulfilled promises expose the limitations of the APC-led government.

The PDP must therefore ready itself — not as protesters, but as a prepared alternative. Our vision remains rooted in democracy, equity, justice and prosperity. We will continue to demand accountability from the ruling party while strengthening our base for a credible takeover.

In conclusion, the PDP is still the only opposition with the national spread, internal memory, grassroots infrastructure and ideological clarity to rescue and reposition Nigeria. What is needed now is unity of purpose, discipline of leadership, and loyalty to the collective dream.

Long live the Peoples Democratic Party.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
