Innocent Woman, Aisha Suleiman, Freed After False Poisoning Accusation

Innocent Woman, Aisha Suleiman, Freed After False Poisoning Accusation

Aisha Suleiman, wrongly accused of poisoning five people, has been exonerated following a thorough investigation that revealed the victims died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

In October 2024, a false social media post circulated, falsely accusing Aisha of poisoning her ex-boyfriend and four of his friends. The accusation led to a terrifying public confrontation and a near-lynching attempt, as furious community members, fueled by the false claim, confronted Aisha upon her return, publicly humiliated her, and attempted to set her on fire. Authorities intervened just in time to save her life.

Aisha was arrested and charged, but human rights activists pushed for a deeper investigation, which uncovered the truth: the victims had actually died from inhaling generator fumes.

In a Friday interview with ITV Radio, Aisha denied any involvement in the deaths, stating she had not prepared pepper soup for anyone. She explained that tensions had arisen due to the end of her relationship with her late boyfriend and a subsequent ban from his home. Importantly, Aisha was in Iyakpi at the time of the deaths, which took place in Afashio. Now, there are calls for legal action against the friend of Aisha’s ex-boyfriend who initiated the false alarm.
