Edo State government denies allegations of unpaid salaries for local government workers
BENIN CITY, Edo State – February 3, 2025 – The Edo State Government has dismissed recent rumors circulating about unpaid salaries for local government workers.
In a press release issued today, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Fred Itua, characterized the rumors as false and mischievous, intended to undermine the positive achievements of Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration since November 2024.
Itua stated that all salaries, including those for January 2025, have been paid to local government workers. He emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to workers' welfare, despite challenges posed by ongoing legal disputes between the state and embattled local government chairmen affecting allocation payments.
The Governor's consistent salary payments are seen as a testament to his dedication to preventing hardship among state employees. The government urged the public to disregard the false information.
