Edo APC Rejects PDP Allegations of LGA Attacks, Blames Internal Conflicts
Edo State – The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong rebuttal to recent claims made by a factional chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleging that Governor Monday Okpebholo orchestrated attacks on three Local Government Area (LGA) headquarters. In a press statement released today, the APC categorically denies these allegations, describing them as "baseless, misleading, and politically motivated."
The statement, signed by APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe, asserts that the incidents were the result of pre-existing internal conflicts and power struggles within the LGAs themselves, and not actions instigated by the governor. The APC claims to have conducted a thorough investigation, interviewing multiple eyewitnesses and stakeholders, supporting their assertion that rival factions within the councils, and the factional PDP itself, were responsible for the violence.
The APC statement highlights Governor Okpebholo's commitment to the rule of law and good governance. It further contends that the governor has consistently complied with all relevant court orders and injunctions pertaining to the LGAs, engaging actively with authorities to ensure the integrity of the democratic process.
The statement goes further, questioning the credibility of Tony Aziegbemi, chairman of the factional PDP, citing a recent alleged self-orchestrated kidnapping incident as evidence of questionable judgment and potentially impaired mental health.
The APC strongly condemns the PDP's allegations, urging the public to disregard what it calls "reckless, irresponsible, and politically motivated" claims and to rely on credible sources of information. The party reaffirmed its confidence in Governor Okpebholo's commitment to good governance and transparency.
