Abuja, Nigeria – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, labeling him a "prophet of doom" and dismissing his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu's administration. The statement, released by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, follows Obi's press briefing where he highlighted the economic hardships faced by Nigerians.
Obi's briefing painted a bleak picture, citing widespread poverty exacerbated by inadequate minimum wage, insecurity plaguing numerous communities, and the President's extensive foreign travel with seemingly little domestic impact. He further alleged harassment of opposition figures. Agricultural boost: Increased farmer incomes and higher federal allocations to states and local governments.
Refinery revitalization: The restart of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries.
Improved oil production and export: A marked improvement in the oil sector.
Security gains: The party highlighted the "decimation of terrorist leaders" and an overall improvement in security.
The APC further praised President Tinubu's commitment to tackling inflation, aiming to reduce it from 34% to 15% this fiscal year, and his ongoing war on corruption. The party characterized Obi's criticisms as "misleading" and aimed at scoring cheap political points, highlighting the lack of transformative achievements during Obi's tenure as Governor of Anambra State.
The statement concluded with a call for Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of President Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda," expressing confidence in a brighter future under his leadership. The APC dismissed Obi and the PDP as politically irrelevant, increasingly desperate to counter President Tinubu's successful economic reforms.
