Okpebholo Nominates Ayewoh Oyakhilome as Edo SUBEB Chairman
The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the nomination of Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilome as the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
The nomination was contained in a government special announcement dated August 10, 2026, signed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq. The development is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the management and delivery of basic education across the state.
Hon. Ayewoh Oyakhilome is described as a dedicated politician and public administrator with a strong commitment to effective leadership and public service. His nomination is expected to bring his experience in administration and governance to the management of the state’s basic education sector.
According to the announcement, Ayewoh has a strong passion for promoting policies and initiatives that will improve the quality of education and enhance learning outcomes across Edo State. His expected role at SUBEB will place him at the centre of efforts to advance basic education and support the development of the state’s education system.
Prior to his nomination, Ayewoh served as the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA). During his tenure, he contributed to the administration and implementation of government programmes focused on improving rural connectivity and infrastructure across the state.
The nomination comes with the next step being legislative consideration, as Ayewoh’s name will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening, consideration and confirmation in accordance with the relevant procedures.
The Edo State Government said the nomination reflects Governor Okpebholo’s confidence in Ayewoh’s capacity and experience to contribute to the administration’s objectives in the education sector.
