HON. HARUNA BRAIMOH HAILS GOVERNOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO AND HON. SYLVESTER AIGBOBOH FOR CHAMPIONING GRASSROOTS ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
The Special Adviser on Public Affairs to the Edo State Governor, Hon. Haruna Braimoh, has commended the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Hon. (Sir) Sylvester Aigboboh, KSM, for his outstanding leadership, unwavering loyalty to the party, and effective communication of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s people-centred economic empowerment agenda.
Hon. Braimoh described Sir Aigboboh as a distinguished party leader whose commitment to the principle that “Party is Supreme” has continued to strengthen unity within the APC while promoting policies that directly improve the lives of ordinary Edo people. He noted that Sir Aigboboh’s dedication to service, discipline, and grassroots engagement has made him one of the administration’s most trusted voices in advancing the Governor’s developmental vision.
According to Hon. Braimoh, Sir Aigboboh’s announcement of the Governor’s ₦2 billion intervention for market women demonstrates the administration’s deliberate commitment to empowering the informal sector, which remains the backbone of Edo State’s economy. The intervention, comprising ₦1 billion approved by Governor Monday Okpebholo and an additional ₦1 billion expected through the support of the First Lady of Nigeria during her planned September visit to Edo State, reflects a coordinated strategy to strengthen small businesses and improve household incomes.
He noted that market women play a vital role in sustaining local economies by driving commerce, supporting families, creating employment opportunities, and ensuring the steady supply of essential goods. He added that empowering them is an investment in economic stability, poverty reduction, and sustainable community development across the state.
Hon. Braimoh further praised Sir Aigboboh for translating government policies into clear and relatable messages that resonate with traders, artisans, women, youths, and other grassroots stakeholders. He said this ability to bridge the gap between government and the people has significantly enhanced public understanding and confidence in the administration’s programmes.
He also applauded Governor Monday Okpebholo for prioritising inclusive economic growth through targeted interventions that deliver measurable benefits to the people. According to him, the administration’s focus on women and youth empowerment demonstrates its determination to ensure that economic development is practical, equitable, and impactful across every part of Edo State.
Hon. Braimoh expressed confidence that the ₦2 billion intervention will stimulate commercial activities, strengthen small-scale enterprises, improve family livelihoods, and reinforce the administration’s commitment to building a resilient and prosperous Edo economy.
