FAAC: Lagos Tops 36 States With ₦320.09bn Net Allocation From January to May 2026

Lagos State received the highest allocation from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) among Nigeria’s 36 states between January and May 2026, recording a gross allocation of ₦362.86 billion and a net allocation of ₦320.09 billion. Delta State ranked second with ₦327.49 billion gross and ₦275.09 billion net, while Rivers State came third with ₦270.61 billion gross and ₦267.59 billion net.
Bayelsa State occupied the fourth position, receiving ₦244.85 billion in gross allocation and ₦221.84 billion net, while Akwa Ibom ranked fifth with ₦241.45 billion gross and ₦218.25 billion net. Kano followed in sixth place with ₦133.35 billion gross and ₦126.34 billion net, while Oyo ranked seventh with ₦131.08 billion gross and ₦116.13 billion net. Ondo, Abia and Kaduna completed the top 10, with net allocations of ₦96.11 billion, ₦86.05 billion and ₦79.85 billion respectively.
Edo State ranked 13th among the 36 states, recording a gross allocation of ₦96.74 billion and a net allocation of ₦84.03 billion during the five-month period. The state was placed behind Imo, which received ₦89.61 billion net, and Benue, which received ₦86.15 billion. Borno ranked 14th with ₦90.04 billion net, while Jigawa and Katsina received ₦84.82 billion and ₦78.94 billion respectively.

Continuing the ranking, 13. Edo — ₦96.74bn gross, ₦84.03bn net; 14. Borno — ₦95.25bn, ₦90.04bn; 15. Jigawa — ₦95.22bn, ₦84.82bn; 16. Katsina — ₦94.94bn, ₦78.94bn; 17. Anambra — ₦92.76bn, ₦88.13bn; 18. Sokoto — ₦88.39bn, ₦83.85bn; 19. Niger — ₦87.96bn, ₦81.21bn; 20. Plateau — ₦87.38bn, ₦76.32bn; 21. Kebbi — ₦86.29bn, ₦82.62bn; 22. Zamfara — ₦85.39bn, ₦79.24bn; 23. Taraba — ₦84.32bn, ₦79.46bn; 24. Kogi — ₦83.99bn, ₦80.94bn.
The remaining states in the ranking are 25. Adamawa — ₦82.82bn gross, ₦81.16bn net; 26. Enugu — ₦81.89bn, ₦78.34bn; 27. Yobe — ₦81.89bn, ₦77.18bn; 28. Bauchi — ₦81.22bn, ₦77.57bn; 29. Nasarawa — ₦79.13bn, ₦70.61bn; 30. Kwara — ₦77.28bn, ₦72.17bn; 31. Osun — ₦76.53bn, ₦70.77bn; 32. Gombe — ₦75.85bn, ₦70.05bn; 33. Ebonyi — ₦75.30bn, ₦70.43bn; 34. Ogun — ₦74.98bn, ₦64.71bn; 35. Cross River — ₦72.06bn, ₦57.54bn; and 36. Ekiti — ₦70.30bn gross and ₦63.85bn net.
The figures show a wide gap in the resources available to state governments from FAAC during the period, with Lagos recording a net allocation more than five times that of Ekiti, the state with the lowest net figure. The five leading states—Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom—also recorded substantially higher gross allocations than the remaining states.
The January-to-May 2026 figures highlight significant differences in FAAC receipts among the states and underscore the varying fiscal resources available to state governments for financing infrastructure, public services and other development programmes. The rankings also provide a snapshot of the distribution of federal revenue to the 36 states during the five-month period.
