OKPEBHOLO TAKES EDO’S DEVELOPMENT STORY TO LONDON, MOBILISES DIASPORA FOR RENEWED HOPE

Governor Monday Okpebholo’s engagement with Edo indigenes in London has further demonstrated his administration’s determination to take the message of Edo’s transformation beyond the shores of Nigeria, while strengthening the bond between the government and Edo people in the diaspora.

At the “Shine Beyond Borders” engagement, the Governor presented a compelling account of his administration’s progress across infrastructure, security, healthcare, education and economic development, while acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope economic reforms for creating greater fiscal space for states to deliver impactful projects.

The Governor’s message to the Edo diaspora was clear: Edo is open for business, investment, innovation and partnerships. His appeal for Edo professionals, entrepreneurs and investors abroad to return home with their expertise, capital, technology and global networks reflects a forward-looking administration that sees the diaspora not merely as observers, but as critical stakeholders in the state’s development.

From the Ramat Park Flyover and the reconstruction of the Ekpoma–Auchi axis of the Benin–Okene Highway to strengthened security architecture and renewed attention to healthcare, education and other sectors, the Okpebholo administration is demonstrating that purposeful leadership can translate available resources into visible development and improved opportunities for Edo people.

The Governor’s decision to present branded souvenirs bearing the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also underscored his administration’s firm alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda and its recognition of the Federal Government’s reforms as an important catalyst for development at the sub-national level. The partnership between Abuja and Edo is producing a new environment for sustainable growth, and Edo people everywhere should be encouraged to support this emerging development trajectory.

The London engagement also carries an important political message as Edo prepares for the future. With the administration’s performance gaining visibility beyond Nigeria, the task before Edo people is to unite around a development agenda capable of sustaining the momentum. The aspiration to mobilise 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represents a broader call for Edo people to consolidate their support for the Renewed Hope leadership and the continuity of policies that are opening new possibilities for the state and the country.

As Special Adviser on Public Affairs and Media, I commend Governor Monday Okpebholo for taking the Edo story directly to the diaspora and for challenging our people abroad to return home not merely as visitors, but as investors, partners and owners of the Edo project. The message is one of confidence, unity and renewed patriotism: Edo is moving forward, and every Edo son and daughter, at home and abroad, has a role to play in building a stronger, safer and more prosperous state.

Signed:

Hon. Haruna Braimoh

Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Public Affairs and Media
