100MW Power Project: Okpebholo Is Creating the Right Environment for Investment and Sustainable Economic Growth — Haruna Braimoh

The Special Adviser on Public Affairs and Media to the Edo State Governor, Hon. Haruna Braimoh, has hailed Governor Monday Okpebholo for securing a 10 per cent equity stake for Edo State in the proposed 100-megawatt power plant, describing the development as a bold and strategic decision that will deliver lasting economic benefits to the people of the state.

Braimoh said the Governor’s insistence that Edo State should become an equity partner in the project, rather than merely providing land for its development, demonstrates prudent leadership and a clear understanding of the importance of protecting the state’s long-term economic interests. He noted that the arrangement guarantees that Edo State will benefit not only from improved electricity supply but also from future returns on its investment.

According to him, the landmark agreement underscores Governor Okpebholo’s unwavering commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish and attracting credible investors to Edo State. He said the partnership with First Bank of Nigeria Limited and CCETC is a strong indication that the administration’s policies have continued to inspire confidence among both local and international investors.

“The Governor has once again demonstrated that governance is about creating sustainable value for the people. By securing equity participation for Edo State, he has ensured that this project will generate long-term economic returns while addressing one of the greatest challenges confronting businesses and industries—reliable electricity supply,” Braimoh stated.

He observed that stable power remains a critical driver of industrialisation, economic expansion and job creation, adding that the 100MW power plant will significantly improve energy availability, reduce production costs for businesses, encourage investment and stimulate industrial activities across Edo State.

Braimoh further commended Governor Okpebholo’s vision to expand power generation through additional plants in Edo Central and Edo North Senatorial Districts, describing the initiative as a comprehensive strategy aimed at guaranteeing equitable development, improving infrastructure and accelerating economic growth in all parts of the state.

He also noted that the project, which is expected to commence operations in November, will create employment opportunities for Edo youths, strengthen the state’s internally generated revenue through its equity stake and further position Edo as one of Nigeria’s preferred destinations for investment.

The Special Adviser reaffirmed that Governor Okpebholo’s administration remains focused on implementing policies that promote economic prosperity, infrastructure development and private sector participation. He urged Edo people to continue supporting the Governor’s developmental agenda, expressing confidence that the power project represents another significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to building a more prosperous, competitive and economically resilient Edo State.

Signed:

Hon. Haruna Braimoh
