SSDC, NPHCDA Roll Out Integrated Vaccination Campaign Across South-South States

The South-South Development Commission (SSDC), in partnership with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and under the policy oversight of the Federal Ministry of Health, has unveiled a coordinated action plan for the rollout of Phase II of the Integrated Measles–Rubella and Child Health Vaccination Campaign across the South-South region.

Following earlier strategic engagements, the campaign will be implemented from 27 January to 13 February 2026, in close collaboration with State Primary Health Care Development Agencies (SPHCDAs) and State Ministries of Health (SMoHs) in participating states. This multi-tiered partnership framework ensures strong federal guidance, effective state ownership, and seamless service delivery at the community level.

The campaign will be jointly led by Ms. Usoro Akpabio, Managing Director of SSDC, and Dr. Muyi Aina, Executive Director of NPHCDA, and will deliver free, WHO-approved vaccines through an integrated outreach model aimed at strengthening routine and preventive child health services.

Services to be delivered include:
 • Measles–Rubella (MR) vaccination
 • Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)
 • Routine Immunisation (RI) services
 • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination
 • Interventions against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)

The exercise will cover Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, and Cross River States, leveraging the technical leadership, infrastructure, and frontline health workforce of state PHC agencies and Ministries of Health to ensure effective last-mile reach.

This integrated campaign reflects the shared commitment of the Federal Ministry of Health, NPHCDA, SSDC, and State Governments to strengthening primary health care systems, protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases, and advancing equitable health outcomes across the South-South region.
