 Over 3.5 million Nigerians have completed online pre-registration for their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Southern states leading the pack .





A breakdown of the registration figures shows that:

- Osun State leads with 518,635 registrations (14.63% of the total)

- Lagos State follows with 440,647 registrations (12.43% of the total)

- Ogun State has 348,217 registrations (9.82% of the total)

- Borno State has 296,409 registrations (8.36% of the total)

- Kebbi State has 193,781 registrations (5.47% of the total)

In contrast, some Northern states have struggled to match these numbers, with:

- Kano State recording 66,091 registrations (1.86% of the total)

- Kaduna State having 187,480 registrations (5.29% of the total)

- Plateau State with 32,000 registrations (0.90% of the total)


In response, Northern stakeholders are stepping up efforts to mobilize eligible residents, with community-based organizations, religious leaders, and local officials launching sensitization campaigns to increase awareness and participation in the Continuous Voter Registration process.
