Police Debunk Social Media Rumors About Injured Constable
Abuja – The Nigeria Police Force has issued a statement refuting online rumours about a police constable allegedly unfit for service due to impaired vision. The Force clarified that the constable, contrary to widespread claims, was recruited several years ago and met all physical and medical standards at the time. His current condition is a result of a gunshot injury sustained two years prior during an operational accident.
A statement released by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, fCAI, on January 28th, 2024, emphasized that the injured officer was not part of the recently recruited constables. The injury, sustained to his left eye, was incurred during a courageous act of duty. The Force highlighted the officer's bravery and commitment, asserting that the incident is a testament to the dedication and sacrifice of police personnel.
The Police Force reiterated its commitment to rigorous recruitment standards, ensuring only physically and medically fit candidates join the force. ACP Adejobi urged the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation that could harm the reputation of officers and the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force. The force further stated that it has provided full support to the injured constable throughout his recovery.
