Edo State Government Swears in New SUBEB Chairman and Commissioners

Edo State, Nigeria – In a significant event held at the New Festival Hall of the Government House on Monday, Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo officially sworn in a new Chairman for the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) alongside six newly appointed Commissioners and leaders of key state commissions.

The ceremony saw Onomen Goodness Briggs take the helm as the new Chairman of SUBEB, while the six Commissioners include Sir Lucky Eseigbe, Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo, Mr. Andrew Ijegbai, and Barr. Marie Olabisi Idami. Their respective portfolios are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Governor Okpebholo expressed a sense of urgency regarding development in Edo State during his address to the newly sworn-in officials, emphasizing the need for collaboration and dedication to improving the lives of citizens. He stated, “This appointment is not just an honor but a call to serve with dedication, integrity, and excellence,” highlighting the importance of shared purpose and effective teamwork.

The Governor assured the public that these appointments reflect his administration’s commitment to good governance and service delivery, urging the new executives to prioritize the needs of the Edo people in their work.

Also taking oaths of office were Jonathan Aifuobhokhan as the Chairman of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), Francis Osaretin Osabuohien as Chairman of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), and Omozane Ebanehita Sonia as Chairman of the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB).

In a statement on behalf of his fellow appointees, Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu expressed gratitude to the Governor for the trust placed in them, assuring unwavering commitment to delivering practical governance in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Secretary to the Edo State Government Musa Ikhilor, Chief of Staff Gani Audu, former Deputy Governor Comrade Phillip Shaibu, and other prominent party officials and government functionaries.
