Edo Queens Continue Winning Ways, Defeat Heartland Queens 2-1

By Ojo Evans (De Parrot Media).

Owerri, Nigeria – Edo Queens have started their Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL) season in emphatic fashion, securing their second consecutive victory with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Heartland Queens on Matchday Two.  The match, played in front of a lively crowd, saw Edo Queens dominate large portions of the game, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive resilience.

Goodness Osigwe was the star of the show for Edo Queens, bagging a brace.  She opened the scoring in the 40th minute, giving her team a deserved lead going into halftime.  Heartland Queens fought back valiantly in the second half, pulling one back through Monica Matthew in the 48th minute, sparking a tense period of play.  However, Osigwe’s second goal in the 70th minute sealed the victory for Edo Queens, solidifying their position at the top of the table.

Heartland Queens battled bravely, but ultimately couldn't overcome the superior firepower and tactical acumen displayed by Edo Queens.  While Matthew's goal provided a glimmer of hope, it proved insufficient to prevent the home side from succumbing to their second consecutive defeat.

The final score, 2-1 to Edo Queens, reflects a closely contested encounter, but ultimately highlights the champions' early season form. With two wins from two matches, Edo Queens are setting the pace early in the NWFL season and sending a clear message to their rivals.  The question now is, can anyone stop their momentum?
