Edo Governor Okpebholo Launches Massive Highway Repairs; Brings Relief to Commuters
Uromi, Edo State – January 9, 2025 – In a swift move to alleviate the suffering of commuters and boost economic activity, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commenced large-scale repairs on severely deteriorated sections of the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi highway. This key artery, connecting Edo South, Central, and North Senatorial Districts, has long been plagued by disrepair, causing significant hardship for travelers.
Barely a month into his administration, Governor Okpebholo has already mobilized resources to tackle critical points along the highway, including sections near Obadan Junction, Upper Mission Extension by Aduwawa junction, Temboga Road, and Upper Ekenwan Road. Work is also underway on the Ehor-Ekpoma axis and other locations, with crews and materials deployed to ensure completion before the rainy season.
The Governor's commitment extends beyond the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi highway, a federal road. His administration is demonstrating a proactive approach to infrastructure development by taking responsibility for repairs despite budgetary constraints. Governor Okpebholo, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, John Obanor; Edo State APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; and other government officials, today inspected ongoing projects in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area. This includes a 32km access road leading to the Federal Science and Technology College, Uromi, and the Onewa Primary School road, by Utako junction. Residents expressed overwhelming gratitude for the attention given to roads that had been neglected for years.
