Edo Governor Calls for Synergy Between Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary
Benin City, Edo State – January 10, 2025– Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has issued a clarion call for enhanced collaboration among the three arms of government – the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary – to accelerate the state's development. Governor Okpebholo made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the Edo State Judiciary, led by Chief Judge Justice Daniel Okungbowa, to Government House.
Expressing satisfaction with the Legislature's cooperation, particularly in the swift passage of the Appropriation Bill, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the need for a similar level of synergy with the Judiciary. He highlighted the importance of a collaborative approach to ensure efficient justice delivery as a catalyst for growth and development.
"We face challenges in Edo State, and the Executive cannot solve them alone," Governor Okpebholo stated. "Synergy between the three arms of government is crucial. The Legislature has been very supportive, and I now look forward to the same level of cooperation from the Judiciary."
The Governor's remarks followed a period of what he described as apprehension about a perceived lack of interaction between his administration and the Judiciary. He expressed relief and optimism following the Chief Judge's visit, stating that it marked a significant step towards the collaborative governance he envisioned.
Governor Okpebholo outlined key areas of focus for his administration, including improvements to the education system and the judiciary itself. He stressed the importance of inclusiveness in governance and reiterated his commitment to working with all stakeholders to achieve progress for the state.
