Edo Governor Attributes Victory to Divine Mandate, Vows Unprecedented Development
Abuja, January 6, 2025– De Parrot Media – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has attributed his recent electoral victory to divine intervention, pledging to bring unprecedented development and economic growth to the state. Speaking at Streams of Joy International Church in Abuja on Sunday, Governor Okpebholo thanked God and Pastor Jerry Eze, the church's lead pastor, for their prayers and support during the September 2024 governorship election.
He described his victory as a "divine mandate" to serve the people of Edo State, highlighting the challenging journey to his triumph over the PDP’s long-standing dominance in the region. Governor Okpebholo recounted seeking Pastor Eze's prayers before contesting both the senatorial and gubernatorial elections, emphasizing his commitment to fulfilling this divinely ordained role. He stated that his emergence as governor is an answer to the prayers of Edo people yearning for progress.
"I have come to return all the glory to God," Governor Okpebholo declared. "In 2023, I was here to testify as a senator; today, I am here as Governor. I see this as a mandate to serve and bring development, and I won't disappoint the God of NSPPD."
The governor's address also included a call for steadfast faith, emphasizing that true power originates from God. He committed himself to being a faithful steward of his position, using the mandate to uplift the lives of Edo citizens. Governor Okpebholo, often described as "a man of uncommon grace," achieved significant political milestones in a relatively short time, having previously defeated the incumbent senator in Edo Central Senatorial District in his first political bid. His gubernatorial victory marked the end of the PDP's reign in the state.
